Therapeutic Recreation. We are still located in St. Luke's Lutheran Care Center.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Assist in runing activities for Station 1 and 2 along with assisting in Moonlight nursing staff in providing and maintaining a quiet, stimulating and comfortable environment throughout the moonlight unit. Will be required to work days, evening and weekends. You will need to take feeding assistant class and dementia class within 30 days of hire.
HOURS:
Day Activities:
Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:30pm plus everyother weekend
Saturday 9:00am-4:00pm
Evening Activities:
Monday-Friday 4:00 pm to 8:30 pm
Saturday 3:30-8:00 pm & 4:00-8:30 pm
Sunday 3:30-8:00 pm & 3:00-8:30 pm
and some Holidays
REPORTS TO: Director of Therapeutic Recreation
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High school graduate.
Skills and Abilities Required:
•Knowledge of the work to be performed.
•Previous work experience preferred.
FUNDAMENTAL JOB DUTIES:
•Ability to work closely with other staff personnel.
•Communicate with nursing staff when necessary.
•Adaptable to situations that may occur in a nursing home.
•Understanding of basic quantity food preparation and sanitation control.
•Acquainted with food service terms after feeding class, the use of food service equipment, and able to work from written and oral instructions.
•Have general understanding of general and modified diets after feeding class.
•Ability to work from a printed schedule and have knowledge of computers.
•Know and follow facility safety rules.
•Know the tornado and fire procedures.
SECONDARY JOB DUTIES:
•To wear name tag at all times.
•Maintains an effective working relationship with fellow employees.
•Maintains a neat and orderly work area.
•Performs duties in a safe manner and observes all safety policies.
•To follow rules and regulations of facility and department as stated in the employee handbook and department procedure manuals.
•May perform reasonably similar or related duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Moonlight unit and hallways of facility.
PHYSICAL EXPECTATIONS:
•Ability to occasionally bend, stoop, squat, reach above shoulder level, crouch, kneel, and push/pull.
•Ability to carry up to 10 pounds.
•Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
•Ability to understand and use good body mechanics
• Will be exposed to fumes, dust & gases.
• Will be exposed to changes in temperature and humidity.
• In an 8 hour day, employee must be able to sit for 1 hour and walk and stand for 7 hours.This Job Description subject to review and modification as needed.
